We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Darton Primary School promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

Starting school is a milestone, not only for your child but also for you. You may be excited or perhaps a little bit anxious as your child takes their first steps towards independence. At Darton Primary School, we aim to build a strong relationship between home and school so that everyone involved can ensure that your child gets the best from their school experience.

There will be a series of events that support the smooth transition for your child. This includes a parent information session, transition visits and any home visits/setting visits for children who are joining us from different settings to our school reception class.
