Registering is very straightforward and quick, and applications are completed online through Barnsley Council using the link below:

We strongly encourage all parents and carers to apply if they think they may be eligible. Although all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 currently receive free school meals, completing this application is still very important. If your child is eligible, it can also provide additional funding which can be used to support pupils with:

• Supporting your child’s learning
• Free or subsidised school trips and clubs
• Support with uniform, PE kit or equipment

What you will need to apply

Applying is simple and usually takes just a couple of minutes. You will need:

• Your National Insurance number
• Your date of birth
• Basic details about the benefits you receive (if applicable)

If you are unsure whether you are eligible, please check the information on the attached poster. However, as it is quick and straight forward, it may be worth applying even if you are unsure.
