At DPS, we are very proud of the start we give to all children in Foundation Stage as they join our school. In Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we provide a happy, safe and nurturing environment where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. We believe that children learn best through play, exploration and meaningful relationships, and our experienced team carefully plans learning opportunities that spark curiosity and build confidence.

Our EYFS curriculum is rooted in the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and supports children to develop socially, emotionally, physically and academically. We place a strong emphasis on communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, and early reading and number skills, ensuring each child is well prepared for the transition into Key Stage 1. Quality play experiences as well as directed teaching form the basis of each day in Foundation Stage and children are encouraged to initiate and develop their own ideas, working with other children and adults in a variety of contexts both indoors and in the outdoor classroom.

Working in close partnership with parents and carers is central to our approach. By sharing learning experiences between school and home, we create a strong foundation for lifelong learning and a love of school from the very beginning.
